 Returning
to Corredera street we pass the two old Casinos facing one another.
These are societies that have existed for a century and which
owe their origin to the Amigos del País Society (Friends
of the Country) founded last century. The Casino Montillano houses
an interesting collection of portraits of distinguished Montillans,
each with their own history at the base of the painting.
Continuing along Corredera street,
the main street of our town, the first street we find to the left
is called San Fernando which leads us to the
Plaza
Ángel Sisternes on our right, where we can see a beautiful
stately home owned by the Council of Montilla. This is the Casa
de las Aguas built as a residence for the Countess of Aguilar
at the beginning of the second decade of the twentieth century.
It is a beautiful building with three floors, a cool interior
courtyard and several rooms. The plans that the corporation has
for the Casa de las Aguas include: the Garnelo Museum (8)
on the first floor, the Ruiz Luque Library (9) on the second,
and multi-functional ground floor.
